We get these phone calls all the time from our tenants, and there’s usually a simple trick to fixing it, without even needing to send an electrician to your house.
Here’s what we ask our tenants to do.
First, we get them to go out to the power box and check if one of the safety switches has flicked off.
If it has, then we ask them to unplug all their appliances from the power points.
Then, we get them to go back to the power box and turn the safety switch back on.
And finally, we get all the appliances plugged back in, one by one, to figure out which appliance caused the fault.
Mostly, it’s just the toaster or the kettle that has become faulty and is throwing the power.
And it’s time for a new kettle or toaster!
And 9 times out of 10, this fixes the problem!
Without even sending an electrician out to the property!
